EVENT DETAILS

  • We've got you covered. Your ticket includes all activities, materials and supplies, coffee, tea, treats, lunch, snacks, and a few fun surprises along the way. Just show up. We'll take care of the rest.

  • Yes! You can purchase multiple tickets at once.

  • The process is the point. You'll have the chance to make several different things throughout the day, but Creative Field Trip isn't about producing perfect finished pieces.

    It's about following your curiosity, trying something new, making a mess, changing your mind halfway through, and seeing where the process takes you.

    You may leave with a handful of creations. You may leave with one thing you absolutely love. Or you may simply leave having spent a day making things for the joy of making them. Any of those feel like a win to us!

  • Some participants will come with friends, but many won't know anyone when they arrive. One of the nice things about making things together is that conversation tends to happen pretty naturally. It takes a lot of the pressure off.

  • Creative Field Trip is an adults only event. We love kids, but this day is intentionally designed as a chance for grown ups to step away from their everyday responsibilities and reconnect with their own creativity. Whether you're a parent or not, we hope you'll enjoy a few hours where the only thing you need to focus on is making, playing, and being curious.

  • Come dressed as the rainbow, or wear your favourite colour! Wear whatever you'd wear to spend a relaxed day with friends. We'll be doing a variety of creative activities and spending some time outdoors, so take that into consideration.

  • You'll have an opportunity to share any dietary restrictions when you register, and we'll work with our catering partners to accommodate as many needs as possible.

  • Unfortunately, we're not able to offer refunds. If your plans change, you're welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else. Just let us know before the event so we can update the registration details.

  • Payment plans will not be an option for Creative Field Trip events, as the goal is to fundraise for worthy causes and donate immediately after the event.

VENUE DETAILS

  • Yes! We'll send all of the practical details before the event so you know exactly where you're going and what to expect when you arrive.

  • Yorath House is a wheelchair accessible building, with a wheelchair accessible washroom on the main floor. Most activities will occur in an activity room on the second floor, which is only accessible by stairs. Future events will occur at fully accessible venues.

  • Rain or shine, we're still having a field trip.

    Most of the day takes place indoors, but we've planned a few moments outside if the weather cooperates. If it doesn't, we'll simply adjust the schedule and keep the creativity flowing. The magic isn't in the forecast, it's in the people!

CREATIVE DETAILS

  • Not really! There will definitely be opportunities to learn new things, but this isn't the kind of class where everyone follows the same instructions and leaves with the same finished project.

    Think of it more as a series of creative experiences. We'll provide the inspiration, materials, and a few gentle prompts, but there's no right way to do any of it. It's all about experimenting, playing, making unexpected discoveries, and having fun.

    You don't need any artistic experience, just a willingness to try something new.

  • No. A lot of the people we picture coming to this event are people who haven't made art in years, or ever! You just have to be willing to give something new a try.

  • Everyone will arrive with different levels of experience. Some people will have done certain activities before. Others won't. The goal isn't to become good at something in a single day. It's to spend a Sunday trying things, making things, and seeing what you enjoy.

  • Some people will try everything. Some people will find one thing they love and spend most of their day there. If you want to take a break and sit outside with a coffee for a while, that's okay too. Do whatever feels best! No judgement.

  • Creative Field Trip started with a weekend at Camp Yowochas.

    Amy is the YWCA's Artist in Residence for 2026, and as part of the residency she invited a few fellow creatives to join her at camp for a weekend of making art together. We had such a good time! A few weeks later we were still talking about that weekend. Not because we'd made extraordinary artwork, but because of the experience. We found ourselves wishing there were more opportunities for adults to do things like that. Creative Field Trip is what we came up with!

    Since the YWCA is the reason our art retreat happened in the first place, donating the proceeds back to them felt like the natural thing to do. We want to help others experience the magic of camp.

  • All net proceeds from Creative Field Trip will be donated to YWCA Edmonton. Once we've covered the costs of running the event, every remaining dollar will go directly to the YWCA.

    The three of us are volunteering our time to make the day happen because we want to create something special while giving back to an organization that has had a meaningful impact on our lives.
